Shanghai, China, June 24, 2026 — Tenneco, a leading global automotive supplier, today announced the completion of its fully automated Monroe® Full Active suspension actuators production line at its Suzhou facility in China. The investment marks Tenneco’s further commitment to the Chinese market and its continued drive to enhance competitiveness in the new energy vehicle and intelligent driving sectors.
“China is the world’s largest and fastest growing NEV market, and a core engine driving the future of the automotive industry,” said Cash Mahesh, EVP and Group President, Performance Solutions, Tenneco. “Our new production line investment in Suzhou reflects Tenneco’s strong, long-term commitment to the Chinese market. With our advanced electronically controlled damping technology, Tenneco is dedicated to helping Chinese automakers develop globally competitive vehicles.”
The new production line will manufacture Monroe® Full Active Suspension (FAS) actuators. The FAS actuators have been developed primarily by Tenneco’s China team, integrating global technology, and know-how and will prioritize serving the Chinese market.
This technology delivers millisecond-level intelligent responses to complex road conditions, providing powerful lifting and pressing active forces while achieving independent wheel decoupling. It actively suppresses vehicle body roll and pitch, and effectively absorbs road bumps, delivering a more comfortable and safer ride experience for users.
Sean Li, President of Tenneco APAC, commented: “The new production line at our Suzhou facility further enhances our ability to develop, manufacture, and deliver premium electronically controlled damping solutions in China. In light of the continuous innovation from Chinese automakers, our well-empowered local team enables us to respond more quickly to OEM needs in terms of product performance, development cycles, and production timelines – supporting our customers in accelerating the launch of new vehicle models.”
As China’s new energy vehicle market continues to evolve toward higher performance and greater intelligence, active suspension systems are increasingly becoming a key premium feature in high-end vehicle models. The fully active suspension actuators produced at the Suzhou plant are expected to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year. The product has already received supplier designations from two customers, with discussions underway with several other automakers.
The new production line integrates automated, flexible, and intelligent manufacturing processes, enabling real-time, precise traceability of key production data to ensure stable, consistent, and high-quality output.
As a global leader in ride solutions technology, Monroe® has established a comprehensive R&D and manufacturing footprint in China, including an R&D center in Beijing and two major production bases in Changzhou and Suzhou. The company offers a full range of solutions, from passive and semi-active to fully active dampers.
